Water Lettuce is an easy to care for floating pond plant. It is often used in ponds and water gardens to help shade the water from the sun. Its vigorous hanging roots suck many organics from the water, helping to eliminate algae! Koi do love to eat the roots of this plant, as well as waterfowl. Turtles like to eat the entire plant. If placed in a pond with koi or goldfish it is recommended to let this plant float in a basket to prevent the fish from tearing the plants apart.

This plant also has a dwarf variety (pictured), Dwarf Water Lettuce, that is commonly used in aquariums.
